About Us

The Firm

If you are going through a dark, scary, and emotional time, and you are not sure how you got to this point in your life, we understand and we can help.

We will listen to your story, and you can trust that our experience will guide you through the legal process to help you achieve your goals. We take a comprehensive approach to your legal issue. While in some situations, the most economical approach may be to resolve your case by way of collaborative methods, there are times when litigation is the only answer. We are prepared to handle all scenarios.

Rebecca, Sherrie, and Elizabeth have been working together as a family law team since 2014. We know that family law matters can get messy, and you need the best team working for you and representing your legal interests. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that you understand all aspects of your case, and we will be patient with you and empathetic as you go through this difficult time in your life.

The best part about hiring our team, is that you have access to all members of our team. While you may have a designated attorney working with you on your case, you will not be overlooked if one person is out of the office. Our experienced paralegal, Elizabeth, can also talk with you to set up appointments or ensure that important messages get to your attorney if your attorney has a busy day in court or mediation. Sometimes two attorneys are better than one. If your case involves complex legal issues and a large time commitment, then you can hire two experienced family law attorneys to assist in the preparation and presentation of your case. You will have peace of mind when you hire Robison Smith Law to assist you with your case, and a huge weight will be lifted off your shoulders.

At the conclusion of a case, our clients are so grateful to have that closure. The clients who hired us after having a negative experience with a different attorney have told us that they wished they had found us and hired us first.

Throughout our years of working together, we have assisted clients in a multitude of ways. Things may happen in your life during the pendency of your divorce that can affect your family law case. We can assist you with any domestic violence issues that arise, we can represent you in the event you get a traffic ticket, or we can assist you if you get sued in small claims court or need to evict a tenant. After your divorce, we can advise you on your estate planning documents, so that you feel prepared to move on with your life.

The Lawyers

Rebecca L. Robison

Partner

For more than 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping people through some of the most personal and challenging times in their lives. I started my legal career as a prosecutor in Union County, where I spent nearly every day in the courtroom trying cases before judges and juries. That experience gave me invaluable trial skills and deepened my commitment to client advocacy.

In 2001, I opened my own law practice, one of the few woman-owned firms in Union County at the time. From the very beginning, my focus has been on family law and on building lasting relationships with my clients. Since then, I’ve built my practice on trust, compassion, and the belief that every client deserves both skilled representation and genuine care.

I’m certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a Family Law Specialist and by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission as a Family Financial Mediator. I’m also a member of the Charlotte Collaborative Divorce Professionals. These credentials require ongoing advanced training and continuing education, reflecting my commitment to excellence and being able to offer my clients a full range of . . .

I’m often questioned as to why I practice family law. Comments from other people usually go something like this: “I don’t know how you deal with the drama,” “I couldn’t listen to everyone complain about their divorce,” or “It would be too hard for me to be involved in a custody dispute.”

The truth is that I really enjoy helping people – yes, even through the drama and raw emotions that come with divorces and custody disputes. When a client comes to me for an initial consultation, my goal is to help this client feel like there is a plan moving forward. There are a lot of emotions present during an initial consultation, so I communicate to my clients that I will be there to take the burden of dealing with the legal issues…

Smith with Family Law, including Divorce, Child Custody, Child Support, Equitable Distribution (Property Division), Post-Separation Support, Alimony, Separation Agreements, Domestic Violence, Adoptions, Grandparent Custody, Termination of Parental Rights. As a family law paralegal, I am dedicated to being a trusted source of information for our clients. In addition to fulfilling my duties as a paralegal, I am also here to provide encouragement and empathy to our clients through a very overwhelming chapter their lives.

Prior to joining forces with Rebecca and Sherrie, I worked in customer service with Hendrick BMW for four years. Working in the car industry and customer service industry really helped me to build the interpersonal skills that I utilize everyday as a paralegal, as I am the voice of our team on most days.

I was born and raised in Union County, North Carolina, graduated from Sun Valley High School, and obtained my Paralegal degree from South Piedmont Community College. I currently reside in the Parkwood community with my husband Randy, our daughters, Kylie and Tegan, and our dogs. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and watching my daughters play softball.
